What can be a more unattainable goal than this tiny creature wanting to touch the moon. The saying is therefore about desiring unattainable goals.

I love these proverbs . Great way to learn. I think a better English equivalent here would be ” to shoot for the stars.” Maybe im wrong but I think the phrase. “Cry to the moon” in English means your complaining is pointless. No one is listening and no-one cares.. because it’s a silly thing to be crying about. Could be wrong it’s been a long time since I’ve heard it.
